Health is not showing my weight
iOS never tells an app that a read permission was declined, so Ballast has to infer it. Open the Health app, tap your profile picture at the top right, then Apps & Services, then Ballast, and check that weight is turned on. If you have no weigh-ins in Health at all, there is nothing to read; you can log weight by hand on the Today tab and everything still works.
My workouts are not appearing in Health or on my rings
Same place: Health app, profile picture, Apps & Services, Ballast, and turn Workouts on. Sessions logged while it was off are still saved in Ballast and are not lost, but they cannot be backfilled into Health after the fact.
The starting weights look wrong
They are a scaled guess from your age, sex, and experience, not a prescription. Change any of them during setup or in the workout itself. Ballast learns from what you actually lift: finish every set at the target reps and it adds weight next time.
How is the protein target calculated?
0.7 g per pound of your current weight, about 1.5 g/kg. That is the middle of the 1.2 to 1.6 g/kg range supported by the ISSN position stand, the PROT-AGE recommendations for adults over 60, and the protocols used in GLP-1 trials. Recalculate it after a weigh-in and the target follows your weight down. You can override it in Settings.
I paid on another phone
Settings, then Restore purchases, while signed in to the same Apple Account. Ballast Pro is tied to your Apple Account, not to a Ballast login, because there is no Ballast login.
Cancelling
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. Open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, or use this link. Cancelling stops the renewal and you keep Pro until the period you paid for runs out.
Getting your data out
Settings, then Export all data. You get one readable file containing everything Ballast knows. There is no server copy, so keep it somewhere if you care about it. To put it back, on this phone or a new one, use Settings, then Restore from a backup. Both are free.
Your data is also included in your normal encrypted iPhone backup, so restoring a new phone from backup carries Ballast across without you doing anything.
Health and safety
Ballast is a fitness and nutrition tracker. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose or treat anything, and it never gives advice about medication or dosing. The program and the protein target are general guidance and take no account of your medical history. Talk to your doctor or a registered dietitian before changing how you eat or train, especially if you take a GLP-1 or any other prescription medication, are pregnant, or have a heart, kidney, or metabolic condition. Stop and seek medical attention if you feel chest pain, faintness, or unusual shortness of breath.
